Could saving the rainforest help solve climate change?
The Yachana Foundation owns and protects 2,500 acres
(1,000 Hectares)
That's 250,000 tons offset CO2.
You can help that number grow.
Your Opportunity to Repay the Planet is now.
Each year, an estimated 18,700,000 acres of forest is lost to deforestation, which is equal to 27 soccer fields every minute. Maintaining rainforest is the best and easiest climate change solution available today. By donating to Footprint for Life, you are able to offset your carbon footprint.
What is Footprint For Life?
Footprint For Life is an initiative of the Yachana Foundation created to protect the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador. It allows any citizen of the world to sponsor blocks of 1000 square feet (approx. 100 sq. meters) with a donation of $50 USD.
Your life block of 1,000 square feet of tropical rainforest will offset 2.5 tons of CO2. For example, if you live in Ecuador, one block will offset your carbon footprint. If you are from the US, 7 blocks will offset your footprint!
2.7 tons per year
In Ecuador the average carbon footprint a person produces is 2.7 tons per year.
15.3 tons per year
In the United States the average carbon footprint a person produces is 15.3 tons per year.
When you purchase a life block of rainforest It is protected for life. You decide how many plots you want to support. The plot will be in your name or a name of your choice for perpetuity and designated with GPS coordinates.
This project has a multiplier effect where the funds generated through the program will allow the trust to buy and protect additional rainforest. Investing in this program will give individuals and corporations the opportunity to promote their offset of CO2 and for them to know they are doing something positive to counteract the current rainforest crisis and protect the planet.
